Wimbedon’s Russian and Belarusian ban a ‘step way too far’: Farage

Wimbledon banning Russian and Belarusian tennis players from the competition is a step “way too far,” says Brexit Leader Nigel Farage.

The All England Lawn Tennis Club issued a statement on Wednesday confirming “with deep regret” it would decline entries from Russian and Belarusian players to The Championships 2022 over the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

Mr Farage said this is all part of the “sanctions regime” against Russia and is partly about the United Kingdom making itself look tough.

“The real sanctions that matter would be the sanctions that Germany and Italy could impose on Russia,” Mr Farage told Sky News host Paul Murray.

“It is not Medvedev’s fault that the battle of Donbas is going on today.”
